The Regimental Band, commanded by the Director of Music, Captain Michael Smith, is one of the premier bands of the British Army. The Band is staffed by 45 musicians and its primary role is to support State Ceremonial, although it also provides support to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the Army School of Music, and British Forces in Germany, as well as supporting military functions around the country and occasionally worldwide. It is based in Wellington Barracks, London. When recruited, potential musicians are of Grade 8 standard and above and are trained at the Army School of Music at Kneller Hall, Twickenham before being posted to the Band.
