GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATIONS
By now, all members of the Regiment will be aware of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) that come into effect from 25 May 2018. These are more stringent than earlier measures (Data Protection Act, 1998) and are designed to enhance the protection of your personal data and ensure that it is not abused.
Regimental Headquarters takes great care to safeguard the information we hold on those who have served in the Regiment. We believe that we have a legitimate interest in holding basic information and contact details so that we can continue to keep you informed about Regimental affairs and forthcoming events. We will not share your data with any third parties. The Data Protection Officer in Regimental Headquarters is the Regimental Adjutant.
Individuals may withdraw their consent for us to hold information about them at any time, by sending a request to firstname.lastname@example.org
We are in the process of introducing a new Customer Relations Management System (CRM) and members of the First Guards Club and Grenadier Guards Association will soon be invited to enter their personal details on a secure members page on the Regiment’s website (www.grengds.com). This will allow you, the individual, to input and amend the information and contact details that we hold on you, to consent to and to control the use of that data. All data held will be held on a secure server, provided by the Army, which meets all the GDPR accreditation and security requirements.
More information about this will be sent out in due course.
With best wishes,
G V A BAKER
