The Old Comrades Association now the Grenadier Guards Regimental Association was formed in 1913 for the welfare of non-serving Grenadiers and currently consists of approximately 1500 members amongst 25 Branches and a further 4000 personnel listed on the Nominal Roll, whilst not linked to an Association Branch they are all General Members of the Grenadier Guards Association.
The President of the Grenadier Guards Regimental Association is Lt Col Guy Denison-Smith.
Association Headquarters helps organise the Regimental Remembrance Day in May each year consisting of a Memorial Service in the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks and a wreath laying ceremony at the Guards Memorial on Horse Guards Parade as well as Grenadier Day which is a families open day in July each year which now takes place at Lille Barracks, Aldershot. Headquarters states the parade to the Queen each year to HM The Queen at the annual Field of Remembrance and has up to 40 Grenadier veterans from across the UK that march at the Cenotaph each year to represent all non-serving Grenadiers and to pay tribute to our fallen comrades.
Association Headquarters coordinates the activities of the 25 Branches, most of which hold an AGM and an annual lunch or dinner for their members as well as monthly meetings and breakfast clubs.
One of the most important aspects of the Association is through the Regimental Welfare Committee, the administration of welfare assistance to Grenadiers or their families who are in need, this welfare assistance can take the form of financial grants, modest allowances, and Christmas gifts.
