Field of Remembrance & Cenotaph Parade 2018
Similar to last year, in anticipation of ticket requirements for this year's Field of Remembrance & Cenotaph Parade, please read the following information carefully and adhere to the requirements:
Field of Remembrance: Entrance to the Field will be by ticket only and the gates will open between 0845hrs-1030hrs.
Security arrangements have not yet been confirmed, however, they are expected to be similar to last year's. Entrance to the Field involves passing through Police security checks, and everyone attending must bring two forms of ID, of which one must include a photograph (e.g. passport). Each ticket has a reminder on the back stating what information is required.
For those wishing to attend please click here, complete the form and return it to me (preferably via email to firstname.lastname@example.org), and tickets will be sent out to the address supplied, or can be picked up prior to the event. Tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis and requests need to be with me no later than Friday 28th September.
Cenotaph Parade: Tickets for the Cenotaph Parade are non-transferable and only valid for the participants who fit into the stated categories listed below:
> Category 1 - Ex-Service Personnel holding a campaign medal
> Category 2 - Civilians deployed on operations in support of the Military (includes; Police, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Civil Service)
> Category 3 - Ex-Service Personnel with no campaign medal
> Category 4 - Bereaved Spouses (Spouse who died on operations)
> Category 5 - Veteran Association representatives
> Category 6 - Military Charities and associated Civilian groups
In previous years, attempts have been made to acquire tickets for 'ordinary' family members to march, which should not be the case. Tickets are printed with individual participants' names, from the information provided. Additionally, photo ID will be required to access the event so please ensure that contact details submitted are correct, as the ID must match the fields that are required. Click here to download the form and return this to me, again preferably via email. Ticket requests need to be with me no later than Monday 20th August, however there will be a further issue of undistributed tickets at the end of August.
Additional March - A Nation's Thank you (DCMS March)
The Nation's Thank You procession will allow 10,000 members of the public, selected by random ballot, to join a procession past the Cenotaph, to pay their respects and help express the nations thanks to the generation that served, and those that never returned.
You should be aware that this will impact upon the dispersal of the Veteran's Parade. Veterans will not be able to disperse onto Whitehall afterwards, as the Nation's Thank You will be making their way down Whitehall. The gates will be closed. Therefore dispersal can only be west, into St. James' Park.
The Nation's Thank You procession, which will follow the Veteran's Parade, will be departing from the Mall, therefore it is also likely to also delay veteran access to their vehicles on North Horse Ride. Finally, the entrance route may also change from Marlborough Road however further information will be sent out within the next couple of months.
Due to these change we advise associations to allow additional time to travel in and out of London on Remembrance Sunday. Rest assured that we are working closely with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to ensure as safe and comfortable day for you as is possible.
If you have any queries please contact the Commemorative Events Team by email at Cenotaph@britishlegion.org.uk
Carers who accompany disabled Veterans will require a ticket also.
Car parking information is provided (North Horse Ride for Coaches and Minibuses Only). Should anyone be planning on parking in the North Horse Ride, please contact me on the number below by Friday 14th September.
Tickets and joining instructions will be sent out some time in October.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me as soon as possible on 020 7414 3285.
