My beloved David, there are no words I can use that will tell you how much I am going to miss you. June 2008 you walked into my life and I couldn't have wished for a more caring, kind, funny and loving partner. Our first night out when you thought I'd had one of your favourite songs played in the pub for you, but you soon found out that every pub plays the same songs here all night, every night. Every pub we walked into we would fall about laughing about it. I can picture your face still when in a coffee shop in Sunderland you asked for a large coffee. You asked why I was laughing at your choice of cup size. Then you were handed your coffee and you just stood there staring for ages before you loudly said "that's a bucket not a cup". To this day you still never found a normal size cup up here and took great pleasure in asking for large down south. My proudest day was watching you in Trooping the Colour. Knowing how much hard work you all put in to ensure everything is perfect. Dominic still loves telling people he was at the Queens birthday party. Everywhere I go will now hold deeply treasured loving fun memories. Until we are together again know I will love everyday and not a day pass without you been in my thoughts.

David, from the moment you walked into our lives, you changed them forever. Myself, Dominic and my mum only have the most fond memories of you, everyday we spent together was a joy. You stepped up and took the role of the Father we never had. Losing you has been a nightmare that will never end but the decade we spent together has given us enough memories to last a lifetime until we see you again. Rest easy.

David, you have impacted on my life so much. You stepped up and looked after me like I was your own Son. I was only 4 when you came into our lives but I can remember each day like it was yesterday. Chicken nugget day is high up there for memories, I think Siobhan is fond of that day as well, mam not so much. Watching you in Trooping the Colour and then going on the London Eye was one of the best days ever.

When you came into the Mills family, in 2008, our lives were changed forever. For me personnally being ex-military, it was gratifying to have a current Serving Soldier to engage with. Once a Soldier, always a Soldier. News from my Daughter Kirsty, of your intended and regular visits to South Shields over the nine years you were in our lives, was great and we all looked forward to seeing you on each visit. You made a huge impact on our family, Kirsty not only had a dedicated friend but a loving partner who showed care and commitment. Not only our Daughter, but our Granddaughter Siobhan and Grandson Dominic, who both looked upon you as their Step-Father. You will be very sadly missed by all of our family, we only wish we had time to say a proper goodbye. You will always be remembered not for your very sad sudden passing but for the void such a wonderful person has left in our lives. Duty done David, Rest in Peace.
