Sir Roderick Napoleon Brinckman, 5th Bt. was born on 27 December 1902. He is the son of Lt.-Col. Sir Theodore Francis Brinckman, 3rd Bt. and Mary Frances Linton. He married, firstly, Margaret Wilson Southam, daughter of Wilson Mills Southam, on 10 January 1931. He and Margaret Wilson Southam were divorced in 1943. He married, secondly, Rosemary Marguerite Hope-Vere, daughter of Lt.-Col. James Charles Hope-Vere and Mabel Ellis Vandervort Barham, on 15 July 1943. He and an unknown person were divorced in 1985. He was educated at Royal Naval College, Osborne, Isle of Wight, England. He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England. He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Victoria between 1926 and 1927. He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General of Canada between 1930 and 1931. He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Grenadier Guards. He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches, wounded, captured as a POW, and escaped. He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.). He was decorated with the award of the Military Cross (M.C.). He was Chief of Staff to the British Military Mission to Russia between 1944 and 1945. He was Head of the British Military Mission to the Netherlands Government between 1945 and 1946. He succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Broadhead, of St. Leonards, Windsor [U.K., 1831] on 26 July 1954.1
