On 9th September 1961, both myself and Guardsman Holland enlisted at the Recruiting office along Silent Street in Ipswich and served together as Boy soldiers for almost three years. In 1964 he was posted to the 1st Battalion and tragically died as the result of a road traffic accident in Germany in 1965. His remains were returned to England to and is buried in the Ipswich Cemetary along with his parents.
