Born circa 1895 in Orlestone, Kent, the Son of James and Ellen Mepham. He was a Soldier in The 4th Battalion, Grenadier Guards, and fought in the Somme campaign at: Carnoy, France on 8th September 1916 at Trons Wood, France on 14th September 1916 where he was wounded and evacuated to one of the military hospitals at Abbeville, France where he succumbed to his wounds while being treated. The cause of death was given as 'Shell Shock' and 'Trench Exposure'
