The Regimental Band in Cyprus

During the last sixty years countless soldiers from the Army in London have deployed to support the United Nations mission to keep the peace in Cyprus.

The Band of the Grenadier Guards has had the honour this week to perform in Cyprus at an historic #UNFICYP multi-contingent medal ceremony marking 60years of the 🇺🇳 in Cyprus.

Military and United Nations Police were awarded medals, and veterans, who had served in the mission during the past six decades, were awarded commemorative coins for their #service4peace.

At the ceremony, top United Nations representative on the island, Colin Stewart, stated: “Many of you have played indispensable roles in the achievements of this mission over these past six decades; many others have travelled significant distances to join us here today. On behalf of the United Nations Secretary-General, let me express my deep appreciation for your service.”
