Celebrating the Grenadier Freedom of Manchester and the Grenadier Fun Day and Band Concert

The Grenadier Guards will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Freedom of the City of Manchester on the weekend of Saturday 31st August andSunday 01 September 2024. This weekend will incorporate a Freedom Parade, a Band Concert and a Family Fun day.
Freedom Parade. On Saturday 31st August 2024 a Freedom of the City of Manchester Parade will take place, stepping off at 1030 hrs from St Peters Square, Manchester. The parade will consist of the Regimental Band and Nijmegen Company. The Regimental Association will provide a marching detachment from Branch, General and Serving members. Association members from across the country are invited to attend however all are to register with the Manchester Branch Secretary, Mr Frank Green, via email to francis.green4@ntlworld.com or by calling Frank on 07442 192744. The Order of Dress Dark Suit or Regimental Blazer/Dark Jacket, Brigade Tie with Medals, Berets are not to be worn.
To allow individuals through the security checkpoint they will need to wear a wristband which will be issued by Mr Bob Fallon at the Starbucks Coffee Shop on the Corner of Mount Street/Peter Street. This check point will be manned by Mr Fallon from 0930hrs on Saturday 31 August 2024. The procedure at the check point will be that Mr Fallon will tick people off the list and issue the wristband so individuals will need photo ID with them, to show to Mr Fallon and also to show to the Police if challenged.
Band Concert. A Band Concert performed by the Band of the Grenadier Guards will take place at 1430hrs on Saturday 31 August 2024 at the Victoria Warehouse, Trafford Wharf Road, Old Trafford, Manchester, M17 1AB. This is open to the Association Branches as well as the general public to purchase tickets, with the proceeds going to the Colonels Fund. Family Fun Day. This magnificent weekend will culminate with an End of Summer Family Fun Day on Sunday 01 September 2024, from 1200 – 1700hrs, at the Victoria Warehouse, Trafford Wharf Road, Old Trafford, Manchester, M17 1AB. This will see a full stage events entertainment programme including the Taylor Swift Experience, The Greatest Showman, Circus Skills Workshops, a Silent Disco, an Inflatables park, a Climbing Wall, Exotic Animals, and much more.
