With regret I write to notify you of the recent death, of a First Guards' Club member.

Lieutenant Colonel Richard Besly died on 25 September, aged 87. Richard was commissioned into the Regiment in August 1950 and subsequently commanded the 2nd Battalion in British Honduras, Windsor and Belfast from 1971-74. He retired from the Army in 1978.

His family are arranging a private family funeral in Suffolk but you may wish to write to Ginny Besly at 5 Fairway View, Melton Park, Woodbridge, Suffolk, IP12 1TP. Details of a Memorial Service in the Guards Chapel will follow once confirmed.
