26 February 2020

Grenadiers,

You will see from the info below that Matt Ellmer our Regimental Casualty Officer, has been nominated and shortlisted as a finalist for the People's Choice Awards, part of the Soldiering On Awards for 2020. You can read also about how well he is thought of by some those he looks after, below.

I have given him my vote using this link (click here) and I would be grateful if you could pass on to others who might consider doing the same. The more that vote for him, the greater chance he has of much deserved recognition. Voting closes at 2359hrs on Wednesday 4th March. Thank you.

Marina Gregory Pointon - (Wife of injured LSgt Pointon)

Please can my friends and family cast this vote for Matthew Ellmer. He has helped my husband through so much since being shot in Afghanistan. He continues to support my husband and us as a family. Please, please vote for him, he deserves this and so much more. Please continue to share with you're friends and family every vote counts. Thanks.

Karl Warde - (Wounded)

Matthew Ellmer you deserve every recognition. In many ways you’ve saved my life. You’ve always been there for me at a drop of a hat.

If you wasn’t there for me before being homeless in London I more than likely wouldn’t be here.

You got me into accommodation at my lowest point in life.

I’m now fully medicated and now living in a fully furnished flat. I’m now a Level 2 Rugby Coach and I see my beautiful daughters all the time.

Matt you're a star and never forget that.

Theresa Hemsley - (Mother of injured Paul Hemsley)

Can you have a look at this and vote for Matthew Ellmer he looks after all the injured Grenadiers and their families; he does an outstanding job and always give 200% of himself. He also looks after the bereaved families and does all sorts of activities with the injured to enable them in their recovery and he is a solid shoulder to cry in when you need to ????

Tagging Paul Hemsley as I know there’s a lot of you on his FaceBook page that will understand what Matthew Ellmer does, please vote and share thank you xx

Matthew Ellmer I so hope you win you deserve to

The fantastic, selfless work that he does for Veterans and their families is exceptional. If you have a couple of minutes and especially if you know what Matt does please vote for him.

Rachel Cumberland - (Wife of injured Nathan Cumberland)

Once again I ask my friends to vote for Matthew Ellmer. Knowing that we always have someone to turn to in times of darkness is so important and Matt is that person! Nothing is too much for him and we consider him to be a good friend! Voting takes 30 seconds, and getting this award will mean so much to him!

Emma Ball - (Fiancée of the late David Atherton KIA)

This is very much well deserved Matthew Ellmer, you have been there for me and Millie Atherton and for all our family through all the tough times and helped us in every which way possible. Your support/passion for all of our bereaved families and the injured is nothing more than remarkable, you are a legend in our eyes. Please let me know how I can vote xxx

Pete Hales (Former Sgt)

Top man, when you talk to lads from other Regiments/Corps they have nothing that comes close to the Colonels Fund. More importantly they have no one that has the passion and drive to help and support injured colleagues and bereaved families. Good luck you deserve all the praise you get.

Captain S Roughly

Matthew Ellmer I sincerely hope that you are rightly recognised for your work within the Regiment. You are the absolute epitome of some one that had dedicated his life to the Armed Forces and still gives now in your retirement from the Army. Your loyalty to our Regiment, Families and Soldiers is unprecedented and should only be recognised by the highest of awards. I wish you the best of luck and if you are not successful please know that I for one appreciate everything you do for all of us as a Regiment!
